SM Hypermart, Plaza Fair – Caught Overpricing
The Bible is known as the book of answers. The Bible gives us advice that we can apply to our own life on limitless topics. It is impossible not to find advice about money, career and personal development.

I was reading a free newspaper from the MRT station yesterday. The headline was along the lines of SM, other malls accused of overpricing.
It was the law of supply and demand at work. It states that If desire for goods increases while its availability decreases, its price rises. On the other hand, if availability of the good increases and the desire for it decreases, the price comes down
But having prices over the imposed ceiling prices wasn’t a good idea. Supermarkets and convenience stores are now being investigated by the NBI and Department of Trade and Industry.
The Bible has numerous verses pertaining to cheating. It’s probably best to comply. Sure you can earn tons of money adding a few cents on the price of commodities, and it works… for a while. Sometime, somehow, good and past deeds end up coming back. (Did any of their malls get flooded?)
Do not be deceived: God is not mocked, for whatever one sows, that will he also reap. For the one who sows to his own flesh will from the flesh reap corruption, but the one who sows to the Spirit will from the Spirit reap eternal life.
Galatians 6:7-8

We Are More Valuable Than Ravens

Consider the ravens: They do not sow or reap, they have no storeroom or barn; yet God feeds them. And how much more valuable you are than birds!
Luke 12:24
Does this mean that we need not work anymore? Does this mean that we need not save anymore?
Absolutely not. I believe that God has given us the tools we need to do the things we need to do. God has equipped us of the right intellect to learn to save, invest and work for our own livelihood.
The Bible verse simply implies that we should not surrender to fear. For when we are afraid we become weak; we think of evil things and pursue various luxuries of the world.

It Is Wise To Save

Four things are small on the earth, but they are exceedingly wise: The ants are not a strong people, but they prepare their food in the summer;
Proverbs 30:24-25
In the house of the wise are stores of choice food and oil, but a foolish man devours all he has.
Proverbs 21:20
Save. Invest. Save. Invest. Save. Save. Invest. Save.
Does this sound familiar? If it doesn’t you probably are one of the many people who don’t like to read on personal finance. Don’t care about their future. You likely waste money on trash or what Dave Ramsey defines as stuff.
Saving and investing are one of the primary actions in personal finance. We cannot achieve financial independece by using our income solely the moment we earn it. A person on the way to financial independence has incorporated into his lifestyle to save a certain percentage of this income before anything else. The mantra, Pay yourself First, comes to mind.
Saving and investing is what rich people do
And financially independent people.
And successful business owners.
They are still constantly saving and investing, but they’ve reached a point that it is a habit, a part of themselves.
P.S. I’m just on my way to deposit 2000 Php of my hard-earned money before I waste it on stuff.

The rich rule over the poor, and the borrower is servant to the lender.
Proverbs 22:7
The quick lesson here is to never owe anyone money. That’s how you evidently work for credit card companies when you use your credit card and pay interest. If you are in debt like me, it’s probably time to pay up and work until you are no longer a slave to your creditors.
